INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
The 1999 World T&F Championships will be Ciara's first time to compete at a Major Games at senior level. She recently won the bronze medal at the European Junior T&F Championships in Riga, Latvia. Her time of 23.49 in the final was a National Record. Ciara has been competing internationally at senior level from the age of sixteen when she ran in the 200m at the Cork City Sports. She finished 5th in the 200m, and 8th in the 100m, at the 1999 Europa Cup in Lahti, Finland. The West Dublin girl was the winner of the 1997 European Youth Olympics 200m title in Lisbon, Portugal. She is the reigning AAA of England Indoor Junior 60m and 200m Champion. She was the Scottish Junior 200m Champion in 1998.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
Ciara broke the 22 year old National Record in the 200m with a time of 23.49 to finish 3rd in the Europan Junior T&F. She was the first Irish woman to break 24.00 indoors, setting the National 200m Indoor Record (Senior & Junior) with a time of 23.96 in the AAA's Junior Championships in Birmingham. She has won the BLE National T&F 200m title for the past three years 1997, 98 & 99. She won the BLE National Indoor 200m in 1997 and 1999. She also took the 60m this year. She is the current BLE Junior 200m Champion.

1999 FORM
A double sprints victory in the BLE Games in the 100m (12.33) and 200m (23.98) was followed by a 200m victory and personal best in the GV Ryan (23.74). This earned her selection for the Europa Cup in Lahti, Finland where she placed 5th in the 200m (23.83) and 8th in the 100m (12.26). Representing Ireland, Ciara placed 3rd in the Antrim International 200m in 24.11, and 4th in the Cork City Sports 200m in 23.98. She took the BLE Junior 200m title in Tullamore (24.08) and the TNT BLE Senior 200m title in Santry (24.40). The highlight of her season so far was a brilliant bronze medal at the European Junior T&F in Riga in a National Record time of 23.49.
