1999 FORM
After clocking an early season 400m time of 46.83 whilst training in South Africa with Iwan Thomas, Paul was unfortunate to pick up a niggling hamstring injury which forced him to miss the first few races of the summer. However he did recover to post three further sub 47.00 performances, winning the Scottish Championships in 46.83, 2nd in Riga in 46.42, and a season's best 46.11 to finish 5th in Budapest. Prior to this he was 3rd in the Cork City Sports (47.32), and Antrim International (47.31). He dropped to 200m in a British League match, finishing 2nd in 21.2, before winning his first BLE National title in 47.09.
