INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
The 1999 World T&F Championships will be David's third appearance in these Championships having competed in both 1995 and 1997. David has extensive international experience in both Grand Prix and Major Games. He was a semi-finalist in the 1998 European T&F Championships in Budapest at 800m. Earlier this year he finished 4th in his heat in the World Indoor T&F Championships in Japan. In the 1998 European Indoor T&F Championships he finished 5th in the 800m final. He finished 5th in the semi-final of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and was also a semi-finalist in the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona in 1995. As a junior he won the bronze medal in the 1993 European Junior T&F Championships at 800m.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
David is the current National 800m record holder at 1:44.82. He has won the BLE National Senior T&F 800m title on three successive occasions - 95, 96 & 97. He placed 2nd in a close finish with teammate James Nolan in the 1998 final, and also finished runner-up in a tactical race in 1999. David has won many BLE junior and IUAA 800m both indoors and outdoors.

1999 FORM
Early season victories in the BLE Games and Irish Universities Athletic Association T&F were followed by a 2nd place finish in the IAAF Permit Meet in Lubiana in 1:47. He beat a strong domestic field in the Antrim International 1000m in 2:22.29, and followed this by beating a classy international line-up in the Cork City Sports 800m in 1:47.76. The UCD man finished 7th in the 'B' 800m in the Oslo GP, clocked 1:48.5 in Budapest, before running a seasons best 1:46.2 in Riga. A tactical BLE National T&F resulted in a silver medal, but was good enough to secure qualification. He finished 11th in the British Grand Prix in Crystal Palace in 1.47.94.
