INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
The 1999 World T&F Championships will be Paul's second time to compete in these Championships. He represented Ireland in the 1998 European T&F Championships finishing 7th in his heat. Earlier in 1998 he won the 200m at the Europa Cup and in the Tallinn Games. In 1997 he was a member of the Ireland 4 x 100m relay team at the World T&F Championships in Athens. In the same year Paul finished 4th in the European U23 T&F Championships 200m final.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/RESULTS
Paul scored a double silver in the 1999 TNT BLE Senior T&F Championships of Ireland 100m & 200m. His personal best time of 20.74 in the 200m ranks him 2nd on the Irish All-Time List. He holds the Irish U23 200m record with a time of 20.96 from 1998.

1999 FORM
Paul had a great start to 1999 winning the 200m in the BLE Games, GV Ryan and Antrim International, beating among others Kevin Braunskill (USA) and John Regis (GB). Over 100m he took the GV Ryan title in 10.57, before going on to represent Ireland in the 4x100m relay in the Europa Cup in Finland. His best race of the season to date was a personal best time of 20.74 to win his 200m heat in the IAAF Permit Meet in Budapest. Paul secured his place in Seville by taking a double sprint silver in the TNT BLE Championships in Santry, before winning the 200m in the Tallinn International.
