The World Cross Country Championships short course trials took place as planned at the ALSAA Complex near Dublin airport on Sunday. Sonia O'Sullivan proved her fitness with a 17 second win. Peter Matthews reaffirmed his form with a 13 second win just a fortnight after he beat training mate Séamus Power in a momentous duel at the Inter Club long course race also held at ALSAA.
