Róisín McGettigan, a senior at Providence College lowered her Irish Senior Women's 3,000-metre steeplechase record running 9.58.26 to win the Big East Conference Championships on Saturday, 3rd May in Storrs, Connecticut.
McGettigan, from Wicklow held the record of 10.08.24 set at the NCAA Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on 1st June 2002.McGettigan turns 23 on the 23rd of August.
