Róisín McGettigan Places 5th in the Mile
2002 NCAA Indoor T&F Championships

Providence College junior Róisín McGettigan was the only Irish qualifier at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. McGettigan from Wicklow, qualified for the NCAA's in the mile in 4.44.27; a time that ranked her seventh going into the meeting.

McGettigan, who competes for Slí Chulann in Ireland, ran 4.45.02 in her qualifying heat held on Friday night. The Ray Treacy coached athlete was the final qualifier in the ten person field.

She took advantage of her good fortune running a personal best 4.42.95 in the final to place fifth!
