Bandon's Breeda Dennely-Willis who now represents New Balance won the Women's Invitational 5,000m in 15.38.91 on Friday, April 20th. She told Irish Runner.com, "I wanted to run the 10km at Mt.Sac but got really sick a few days before so I gave the 5km a shot and I didn't feel great. She's scheduled to run the 10k next Friday night at Penn Relays where this year's field is small and lack lustre. She commented, "If I want to get the 10km standard [Edmonton World T&F Championships) at Penn I will have to do it alone." Maria McCambridge (Dundrum South Dublin A.C.) was fifth in the race in a time of 15:53.33. They may meet in the Penn Relays 10k.

Keith Kelly, the lad that never seems to rest ran an impressive seasonal debut in the 10k, his first in two years, placing second in 28.32.37. The Providence runner from Drogheda was beat by .18 seconds by American Weldon Johnson who was beat in last years by nearly the same margin. No worries as Kelly's goal was to qualify for the NCAA Championships where he has the second fastest collegiate time behind William & Mary's Matt Lane (28:28.97). Friar teammate Dermot Galvin (Co. Clare) placed twentieth in 29.49.46.
