Heffernan Wins Euro GP Race Walk

Robert Heffernan (Togher) set an Irish Record winning 20-kilometre event at the European Grand Prix Race Walk meeting in Leamington, England on 22nd April. Heffernan, who competed in the Sydney Olympics, covered the distance in 1:21:11.

More impressive is the fact that the young Corkman beat Julio Martinez (Guatemala), the world record holder in the event.

Pat Ryan, from Mullingar placed eleventh in 1:32:45, a Seasonal Best. In the 10k Junior race, Colin Griffin, from Ballinamore raced home in 42:49. It is an Irish Best Performance, which now ranks him in European top 6.
