Dermot Galvin & Pauline Curley Win Streets of Galway 8k Titles

Dermot Galvin (St John's AC) won the Reebok Streets of Galway 8k on Saturday evening, 9th August covering the challenging course in 23.41. The Clareman who graduated from Providence College in 2002 was marked most of the race by local Galway City Harrier Gerry Ryan who placed second in 23.55.

The first woman home was defending champion Pauline Curley from Tullamore in 26.14, two ticks faster than last's year. Julie Butler (Omagh Harriers) finished in the runner-up position in 27.55.

Domnic Bonnar was the first V40 home, finishing 11th in 25:15 with Louise Finnegan, Letterkenny AC, first V35 in the ladies, in 29:31.

The race which began at Eyre Square and traversed City Centre and Salthill saw over 1100 runners compete.
