| Woodie's DIY and Garden Centres, the market leader in DIY retailing in Ireland, has announced that it is to sponsor the 131st Senior Track and Field of Championships of Ireland which take place at Morton Stadium in Santry, Co Dublin on 9th - 10th August 2003.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Ray Colman, Chief Executive of Woodie's DIY and Garden Centres said; "Ireland has a strong tradition of producing world class athletes and Woodie's DIY is delighted to support the work of the Athletics Association of Ireland by sponsoring the 2003 Senior Track and Field Championships. "Woodie's DIY and Garden Centres is the market leader in DIY retailing in Ireland with 14 stores nationwide and another two stores due to open in Cavan and Carlow before the end of the year. We are very pleased to be involved with an association that is also growing, by approximately 10 per cent by annum, and is expected to have over 25,000 members by the end of the year." The Irish owned retailer, Woodie's DIY, has sponsored many key sporting events locally and nationally in recent years. The company also contributed over 30 miles of timber to be used as flagpoles in the opening ceremony, of the Special Olympic Games at Croke Park.
