Daly, Heffernan & Gillian O'Sullivan Win Gold
AAA Indoor Championship in Cardiff, Wales

Robert Heffernan won the 3,000m walk in 11.10.02 with Colin Griffin earning the silver spot in 11.46.03. Michael Lane placed 11th in 15.44.91. Gillian O'Sullivan easliy won the women's 3000m-walk event in 12.17.56.

Sarah Reilly won her qualifying heat in the 200m (24.16) with Leanne O'Callaghan running 25.45 for third. Reilly placed second in the final running 23.97.

In the men's 200-metres event, Gary Ryan won his heat (21.53) with Irish teammate Mark Howard disqualified. Tom Comyns placed second (21.82) in this qualifier and went on to the 'B' final in 21.71. Ryan placed second in the final in 21.45.

In the 1,500 metres, Maria Lynch placed third in her qualifying heat in 4.33.40 and went on to place fourth in the final in 4.29.31. Colm McLean placed fourth in his 1,500m heat running 3.57.25.

Irish ex-patriot James McIlroy won his 800m heat in 1.53.73 and won the final in 1.51.10.

Taniesha Scanlon placed eighth in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.82 metres. Scanlon placed second in her specialty, the triple jump with a PB of 13.00m. Sharon Foley was ninth in 11.61m.

Robert Daly won his 400m opening round race in 48.41 and his semifinal in 47.86. With fresh legs on Sunday, Daly won the final in 47.58.

As they did in 200m heats, Sarah Reilly and Leanne O'Callaghan battled each other in the 60m heats with Reilly advancing with a third place finish (7.63) and O'Callaghan failing to qualify running 7.78 for fourth. Reilly advanced to the final running 7.55 in her semifinal for third. Reilly placed fourth in the final in 7.47.

Zoe Brown tied for sixth in the women's pole vault clearing 3.50m and Erin Kinnear placed twelfth in 3.30m.

Deirdre Ryan placed third in the high jump in 1.84m and Sharon Foley was eighth in 1.68m. In the men's event, Mark Mandy placed third in 2.09m.
