Irish Results @ 2002 Boston High Performance Series


After the competitive season ends for colleges, universities and secondary schools, middle distance and distance runners that live in the northeastern part of America gravitate to a small high in a suburb of Boston to run in the Boston High Performance Series. The maxim for the Boston High Performance Series is "Meets created by athletes for athletes."

Meeting # 1 - 18th May 2002
Deidre Fleming (Dublin City Harriers) ran 2.11.07 to place second in the Women's Elite 800m

Meeting # 2 - 25th May 2002
Paul Reilly, from Loughrea ran 8.15.85 to place second in the Men's Elite 3,000-metre event with Patrick Guidera (Clonmel AC) placing ninth in 8.32.89. Róisín Quinn (Waterford AC) ran 2.19.80 to place seventh in the Women's Elite 800m. Providence College grad Stephanie O'Reilly, from Wicklow placed 14th in 4.39.70 in the 1,500m. Sean Connolly (Iona College) from Tallaght placed sixth (3.54.01) in the Men's Elite 1500 metres with recent Providence College graduate Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Co. Clare) placing 10th in 3:58.98.

Meeting # 3 - 1st June 2002
Desmond English (Dundrum South Dublin) placed fourth in the Men's Elite 800m running 1.50.54. Paul Reilly placed seventh in heat 2 in 1.57.83.

Meeting # 4 - 8th June 2002
Marie McMahon Davenport (Marian AC) easily won the Women's Elite 1,500-metre event in 4.19.10, well clear of runner-up Kim Certain (4.23.99). Deirdre Fleming decided to try running just one lap as opposed to her normal distance of 800 metres and placed second in the 400m in 58.45. Des English was second in the Men's Elite 1,500m running 3.51.20 with Paul Reilly placing third in 3.52.25.
