Anne Keenan-Buckley who turned 40 on the 7th January ran 15.47.73 to place third in the women's 5,000m behind Sonia O'Sullivan (15.20.11) and Una English (15.39.77). Her time, once ratified is a new Women's Master's (Vet) 40 record. According to World Masters Athletics formerly World Association Of Veteran Athletes (WAVA) the current record is 15.51.7 set by Nicole Leveque (France) in 1994 when she was 43.Mademoiselle Leveque also holds the 10,000m (M-40) record of 32.12.07, which is certainly well within the reach of Keenan-Buckley. She ran 32.18.03 in Camaiore, Italy at the European 10,000m Challenge on the 6th of April. The North Laois runner will be running the 10k at the upcoming European Championships in Munich.
