The Athletic Association of Ireland recently went through a massive upgrade to their website. For the last four years, the AAI's website has been a well-deserved target for abuse and ridicule for both the lack of content and timely updates. In fact, only an AAI sponsored event's results eventually found their way to the website. |

Criticism peaked in March of 2001 when the AAI barely had a presence despite hosting the upcoming World Cross Country Championships, which were eventually moved to Ostend, Belgium. Not because of the poor website but due to foot-and-mouth. Fairplay to Liam Hennessy and Pierce O'Callaghan and the rest of the AAI staff for the excellent improvement done to the site. The site is now complete, very informative and timely. It includes sections on inside AAI, results, calendar, records, coaching, news archive, links and featured athletes. The next big test for AAI will be to continue to maintain this vital resource. The only thing worse than not having a website is not updating it. Good luck and Irish Runner.com is looking forward to contributing to AthleticsIreland.ie |
