Colin Costello continued his fine form this indoor season winning the 1,500-metre event in a hand-timed 4.01.3. Earlier in the season, Costello, only 16 years of age, won the English 3A U-20 1,500m in Birmingham in mid-January in 3.53.33. Costello is from Gormanstown, Co Meath.

Joanne Cuddihy (University College Dublin), a veteran of the World Junior Championships easily won the 200m (25.28) and her specialty the 400 metres in 57.94.

Leona Byrne (St. Laurence O'Toole AC) won the high jump (1.70m) and the 60m-hurdles in 9.32.
