Gillian O'Sullivan (Farranfore /Maine Valley) set a new Irish, European and World record at the National Indoor Championships at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on Saturday, 15th February. O'Sullivan, from Farranfore Co Kerry won in a time of 11.35.34 breaking the existing 3000-metre walk record by five seconds. Ciara Sheehy (Dublin City Harriers) was a double-winner setting a Championship Best Performance in both the 60m (7.45) and in her 200m victory (23.72). Gary Ryan (Nenagh Olympic) ran 21.21 to win the 200 metres in a Championship Best Performance (CBP). Eoin Leen (Tralee) won the shot putt setting a National Junior Record with a toss of 15.66m.
