Sprints
Leevale's Jer O'Donoghue (7.08), Tony Barnett from Tralee AC (7.12) and Darragh Graham from Sli Cualann (7.14) had blistering times in the qualifying round of the 60-metre event promising to make for a grand final. O'Donoghue prevailed winning in 7.00 with Graham next across the line in 7.04 and Darren O'Donovan third in 7.10. Barnett equaled his opening round time and placed fourth.

Gary Ryan (Nenagh Olympic), the national record holder (21.13) won the 200m race in a brilliant early season time of 21.98. Graham, the National Junior record holder (22.29) added another silver to his collection placing second in 22.30. David McCarthy (Celbridge AC) won the 400 metres in 50.04. Trevor McGlynn from Strabane TC won the 60m hurdles in 8.48.

Leevale swept the 60-metre event with Ailis McSweeney winning the women's race in 7.96. McSweeney went on to win the 200m as well running 26.14. Joanne Cuddihy (Kilkenny City Harriers) won the 400 metres in 56.94 with Jennifer McKenna (Metro-St Brigid's) in second in 57.78. Orna Donoghue (Carrick-On-Suir) edged Leevale's Jessica Zebo in the 60m hurdles running 9.24 to Zebo's 9.38.

Middle Distance & Walks
David Campbell (St Coca's) easily won the men's 1000m in 2.29.00 and Ann Brown (Sportsworld AC) won the women's race in 3.11.20.

Colin Griffin (Ballinamore AC) won the men's 3k walk in 12.19.8 over Finn Valley's Jeff Cassin (12.29.6). Olive Loughnane won the women's race in 13.08.9 over her sister Ann (14.05.0).

Field Events
The best mark in the field events was Adrian O'Dwyer's (Kilkenny City Harriers) 2.10m leap which won the high jump event. Eoin Leen (Tralee AC) who threw the shot 16.37m for a new Irish Junior & U23 record in December at the IUAA Champs settled for a victory with a toss of 14.86m. Sean Lonergan (Kilkenny City Harriers) won the in 13.65m - his only mark. Kevin Burke (Dooneen AC) won the men's long jump in 6.51m with Antoinette Furlong (DMP AC) capturing the women's event in 5.65m. Tirchonaill AC stalwart Geraldine Stewart won the shot putt with a throw of 12.56m and also placed 4th in high jump in 1.60m. Rosemary Daniels (Na Fianna AC) won the high jump in 1.70m. Sean Lonergan (Kilkenny City Harriers) won the in 13.65m - his only mark.
