Kenyan Daniel Gachara edged Turbull by just .01! Turnbull, who was 22 this day last week moves up from 17 on the Irish All-Time List for 1500m to 13th with his personal best seeing him improve by approximately 0.8 of a second. He stakes an early claim to remain the 3rd best current Irish 1500m runner behind Mark Carroll and James Nolan. Fellow St Malachy's graduate 20 year-old Colm McLean and 24 year-old Andrew Walker of Kildare, amongst others, are hard on his shoulder for this spot. Conor Sweeney, one year out of St Malachy's placed eighth in 3.44.66 just .25 off his personal best. Emily Maher (Kilkenny City Harriers) placed second in the 200m in 23.60 (-0.1) while Michelle Carey (Crusaders AC) placed second in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.00. Tom Comyns (Limerick) placed sixth in the 200m 'A' race with a time of 21.82. In a separate section of the 1,500m, St Malachy's John Frazer placed eighth in 3.52.50 with brother Tom Frazer next in ninth at 3.53.60.
