Shinkins is currently in sixth place in the Grand Prix standings in the 400-metre event and is the 20th fastest woman (51.48) in the event. Derval O'Rourke (Leevale/UCD) ran 13.47 (+0.8) to set a personal record in the 100m hurdles placing sixth at IAAF GP II Cena Slovenska - Slovak Gold meeting held in Bratislava, Slovakia on 11th June. Gary Ryan (Nenagh Olympic) ran 21.20 (-0.5) to place second in heat 2 of the 200m at the Fortis Meeting Internationale held in Izegem, Belgium on 8th June 2002. Mark Mandy (Cannock) placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 2.05m. |

Conor Sweeney (St Malachy's) placed fifth in the 1,500m A race running 3.42.79. Eugene O'Neill (Crusaders AC) broke the nine-minute barrier in the 3,000m steeplechase when he ran 8.54.22 for fifth place. Kiillian Lonergan (Clonliffe Harriers) placed sixth in the 5,000m A race in 13.47.99 with Dermot Donnelly (Annandale Striders) in eleventh with a 14.05.23 clocking. In the 5,000m C race, Eddy McGinley (U20, Annandale Striders) ran 14.54.42 for seventh place. Raymond Adams (Lagan Valley) placed fourth in the 800-metre A race running a personal best time of 1.48.91. Nigel Carlisle (Ballymena & Antrim) ran 1.54.73 to place seventh in the 800m C race. Geraldine Hendricken continues her Fairly Tale season winning the Northern Ireland Athletics 1,500 metre title in 4.09.56, a time that meets both the EAA (4.13.00) and the AAI (4.11.00) European Championship Standards. Hendricken (St Laurence O'Toole AC) began the year qualifying for the women's long course race for the World Cross Country Championships where she placed 71st and since then has show improved form and prowess on both the road and track not to mention her opinion on the sacking of Roy Keane. Other impressive women's results from the meeting include: Fiona Norwood, Kilkenny City Harriers, 1st - 400m hurdles, 59.88; Antoinette Furlong, DMP, 1st - long jump, 6.07m; Eva Massey's (Belgrave) double victory, 1st - Shot Putt, 15.57m & hammer (32.46m) and Ciara Sheehy's (Dublin City Harriers) victory in the 200 metres in a time 23.40.
