Freda Davoren (UCC) ran 4.13.33 to place 8th in the 1,500 metres while Sonia O'Sullivan ran 15.06.19 to place 6th in the 5,000m at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix held in London on Friday, 8th August.

Karen Shinkins (Dublin City Harriers) ran a sesonal best of 52.48 in the 400 meters to place 5th at the Thessaloniki International Meeting in Greece on 3rd August.

Peter Coghlan placed 4th in the 110m hurdles in 13.90 (+1.6) at the Bayer-Meeting in Leverkusen, Germany on 3rd August. The Crusaders athlete, who missed a full winters training due to injury has virtually assured himself of selection to the Irish team for the forthcoming World Championships in Paris.

Gary Ryan (Nenagh Olympic) placed second in the 100m (10.51, +0.6) and 200m (20.83, -2.4) at the Karelia Games in Lappeenranta Finland on 3rd August. Dublin City Harrier Daniel Caulfield ran 1.47.38 for 6th in the 800 metres. European U-23 Bronze Medallist Robert Connolly (Dundrum South Dublin) was 5th in 5k in 14.31.16.

St Malachy's Gareth Turnbull ran 3.38.52 to place 5th in the 1,500 metres at the Intersport Gugl Meeting in Linz, Austria on 31st July.

Paul Brizzel (Ballymena & Antrim) placed 2nd in the 200 metres 20.71 at the Loughborough European Athletics Permit Meeting on 31st July. Brizzel ran 20.71s (+1.3), the fastest time by an Irishman this season. This could loom large in the selection process for the World Championships, as his time is .01 seconds faster than Gary Ryan's seasonal best set at the Mardyke on 5th July. Peter Coghlan, 1999 World Championship 110m Hurdles semi-finalist Peter Coghlan continued his excellent return to form with a scintillating 13.76 (+1.3) performance to take 3rd. The Crusader athlete ran 13.95 (+1.3) in his qualifying race in the 110m hurdles. Michelle Carey (Dublin Striders ran 60.03 to place 6th in the 400m hurdles.
