Fagan & McGettigan Win Rás na hÉireann USA 5k Road Race

Providence College graduates dominated the 5th Annual Rás na hÉireann USA 5-kilometre road race held amidst wintry conditions in Somerville, Massachusetts on Sunday, 18th March 2007. Martin Fagan, who just completed his college eligibility, won the men's race covering the icy course in an amazing time of 14.30, just 11 seconds off the course record held by Mark Kenneally set in much friendlier conditions in 2006. Paul Reilly (Loughrea, Co. Galway) placed second in 15.36.

Another Providence graduate Róisín McGettigan of Wicklow, won the women's race in 16.58 with her collegiate teammate Emer O'Shea, from Limerick, taking 3rd in 17.47. The course record is held by another Providence graduate, Maria McCambridge, who ran 16.06, also in 2006.

More than 2,000 runners and walkers completed the event.
