Richard Corcoran, who competes for Marcus O'Sullivan's Villanova Wildcats ran 3.52.14 in his 1,500-metre qualifying just missing a spot in the final at the 2006 Big East Conference Championships on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut on 6th - 7th May. On the next day, Corcoran lined up for the 5,000 metres where he ran 15.14.36 to place 18th overall. Corcoran, who competes for Raheny Shamrock in Ireland, ran a seasonal best of 3.52.14 in the 1,500 to place 13th at the Larry Ellis Invitational held at Princeton University on 21st April. |
Corcoran, a sophomore, ran 8.47.75 to place seventh in the 3,000 metres at the Princeton Quad Meet (Villanova, University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University and Princeton) held on 15th April at Princeton. Corcoran, from Dublin, ran a personal best of 14.48.48 to place 17th in the 5,000-metre event at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational held at Princeton University on 7th April. Corcoran, who broke his foot in late October at the Big East Cross Country Championship and missed four months of training, opened the 2006 outdoor campaign running 15.27.70 to place third in the 5,000 metres at the Danny Curran Invitational on 1st April at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Corcoran's personal best in the 1,500 metres is 3.46.64 set in Dublin on 19th May 2004.
