Michelle Gallagher (Iona) ended her season on a disappointing note placing 18th in the 5,000-metre event at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships 5,000-metre event in 17.23.86 in Princeton, New Jersey. The time failed to meet the NCAA Regional standard of 16.52.00 and was well off Gallagher's personal best of 16.49.94 set on the same date at the same meet in 2004. Gallagher, 20, won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference 1,500m title on 7th May in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. She earned her third MAAC individual crown, crossing the line in 4.41.48, 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. |
Michelle Gallagher (Iona College) placed 5th in the College Women's 3,000 metres with a time of 9.48.27 on Thursday, 27th April in Philadelphia. Her time was an outdoor personal best but inferior to her indoor time of 9.40.52 set on 6th March 2005. Gallagher, a junior ran 4.46.93 to place second in the 1,500 metres at the New York Metropolitan Outdoor Championships held at St. John's University in Queens, New York on 22nd April. Gallagher, who competes for Dundrum South Dublin in Ireland, ran 17:09.01 to place 31st in her heat of the women's 5,000-metre event at the Stanford Invitational on 31st March in Palo Alto California. Gallagher began the season placing second in the 1,500 metres in 4.41.03 at the Virginia Commonwealth University Ram Invitational in Richmond, Virginia on 16th March.
