Deirdre Ryan Jumps 1.83m for 3rd in Lucerne
Martin Fagan Runs 3.41.89 PB in 1,500m at Århus

Deirdre Ryan placed third in the high jump in 1.83m at the Spitzen Leichtathletik EAA Premium Meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Ryan, who competes for Dudrum South Dublin, equaled Laura Sharpe's National record of 1.89m which was set on 3rd July 1994.

Ryan, 24, accomplished her record tying performance at the recent European Cup First League Group A meeting in Praha, Czech Republic on 18th June 2006.

Mary Cullen, who last month won the NCAA 5,000m championship, placed ninth in the 3,000m in 9.05.16 with fellow Providence grad, Róisín McGettigan placing 13th in a personal best time of 9.10.87.

Fionnuala Britton stepped down to the 1,500 metres where she improved her previous best by 10.02 seconds running 4.18.92 to place 11th overall. Michelle Carey won Race #2 and placed fourth overall in the 400m hurdles in 56.62 with the overall winner being American Tiffany Ross-Williams in 55.30.

A pair of Mullingar Harriers competed in the 1,500 metres at the Århus Games Århus, Denmark on 6th July. Martin Fagan dropped way down in distance after placing second in last month's 10,000m at the NCAA Championships to place fourth in a personal best time of 3.41.89. Mark Christie missed the European Championship Standard of 3.41.00 running 3.42.06 to place sixth in the race.
