Erin Kinnear, from the University of South Alabama tied for second place in the pole vault at the 2006 Sun Belt Conference Championships held at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on 14th May. |
Kinnear jumped a season best of 3.60m. She made 3.45m on her second attempt and cleared 3.60m on her first jump. Kinnear passed at 3.65m and 3.75m as did the other competitors deciding to take three attempts at 3.80m which is the NCAA Regional standard. Kinnear, from Lagan Valley AC, also won the pole vault a week earlier with a 3.50m jump at the University of South Alabama Invitational in Mobile, Alabama on 15th April. Kinnear, 21, no-heighted at the Ole Miss Invitational held in Oxford, Mississippi on 25th March. Kinnear began the outdoor campaign with a win at the University of South Alabama Premier meet in Mobile on 4th March with a vault of 3.35m. Kinnear holds the Irish outdoor record of 3.93m which she set in Mobile, Alabama on 24th April 2004. Earlier this year, Kinnear set the Irish Women's Indoor National Record with a vault of 3.73m at the Louisiana State University Twilight Invitational on 17th February 2006 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. |
