Selection Policy for Irish Teams
for World Cross Country Championships

The Irish team for the World Cross Country in St Etienne, France on 19th - 20th March will be selected immediately after the National Inter Club Championship in Santry on Saturday 19th February.

A senior men's and senior women's team of 6 athletes will be selected. There will be individual representation in the junior men and women's events.

A decision as to which event (short or long course) for the senior men and women will be decided in Santry by the selectors following consultation with the World Cross Country team management. The first 3 in the senior men's and women's events in Santry will gain automatic selection. The winner of the junior men and women's events will gain automatic selection.

Participation in the inter club cross country in Santry is critical for selection. Only in exceptional circumstances will athletes who do not participate be considered for selection.
