Irish Runner.com erroneously reported that the quartet of Derval O'Rourke, 24; Anna Boyle, 22; Ailis McSweeney, 21 and Emily Maher, 24 ran 44.69 to set a new Irish National Team record on the final day of the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey. The good news however is that the record is faster than reported, 44.68 and was set by three of the same four women - O'Rourke, Boyle, McSweeney, and Ciara Sheehy. The team set the record when they placed 5th in 44.68 at the Europa Cup in Portugal on 19th June 2005 with Belarus winning the event in 43.41. |

Hopefully, this report didn't cause the runners to lose thousands of Euros in incentives and bonuses from their lucrative sponsorships deals. |
