Irish Teams Dominate at 2005 Celtic Cross International

Irish teams garnered gold in five of the team competitions at the Celtic Cross Country International held in Cardiff on Sunday, 23rd January. The team titles were won by both U-23 and U-20 squads along with U-17 women's squad as well.

Gary Murray (St Malachy's) was the top performer in the Senior Men's 9km when he took 2nd behind England's Peter Riley. Jolene Byrne (Donore Harriers) continues her fine form placing second the women's 6km behind England's Haley Yelling.

Fionnuala Britton (Slí Chúlainn AC) won the women's U-23 race while placing fourth overall with Eoin Higgins (St Cocas) taking the men's U-23 and taking 13th spot overall.

Breffini Tuohy and Danny Darcy placed second in the women and men's junior competitions respectively. Sara Treacy was the winner of the women's U-17 event with Niall Tuohy the top Irish finisher in the men's U-17 in third place.
