Irish Results @ Cardiff Indoor International Athletics Meeting

Leevale's Derval O'Rourke won the 60-metre hurdles (8.24) and ran a Personal Best (PB) of 7.59 in the 60 metres at the Cardiff International Athletics Meeting held on Saturday, 22nd January. O'Rourke's clubmate Jer O'Donoghue placed 3rd in the 60m (6.84) ahead of Athen's Olympian Paul Brizzel (Ballymena & Antrim) who placed 6th in 7.03. Limerick AC's Taneisha Scanlon won the Senior Women's triple jump.12.78m.

Ciarán Ó Lionaird (Leevale AC) won the Junior Men's 1,500-metre event in 3.50.86, a time which qualifies him for both the World Youth Championships and European Youth Olympics. Colin Costello (Star of the Sea AC) won the Junior 800m in 1.51.15. There were four Irish individual winners in the Junior events including Louise Kiernan (60m, 7.84), Laura Crowe 800m, 2.15.28), Pamela Hughes (high jump, 1.65m), Jennifer Reddy (long jump, 5.43m) and Laura Cogan in the shot putt with a toss of 11.44m.
