Sinead Delahunty-Evans 9th at 5th Avenue Mile

Canada's Carmen Douma-Hussar won the Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile held in New York City on Saturday, 23rd September. Douma, a graduate of Villanova University and the 2004 World Indoor 1,500m Silver Medallist won the race in 4.28.0. She was followed by Amy Rudolph (4.28.5) who will wed Irish Olympian Mark Carroll next month. Kilkenny's Sinead Delahunty-Evans placed 9th with a time of 4.32.3.

Craig Mottram won the men's race in a brilliant 3.49.9 with young American favourite Allan Webb placing second in 3.51.4. Mottram capped a great season which was highlighted with a bronze medal in the 5,000-metre event at the Helsinki World Championships.


Peter Riley, from Manchester won the 26th Annual Tinryland AC Four-Mile Rockford Roof Tiles Road Race in Co Carlow on Sunday, 25th September. Riley, a graduate of Iona College covered the course in 18.30 with Irish Olympian James Nolan a full minute adrift in the runner-up spot in 19.30.

Orla O'Mahoney, the recent winner of the Irish Half-Marathon Championships won the women's event in 22.25. Annette Kealy (Raheny Shamrock) placed second in 22.49.
